vacation. fun.
I got woken up by Sandy this morning at 7am "are you coming?!" blah blah blah. UNG. Why are vacations so stressful? This is why I like staying home. No worries - just fun and games.

Amy - that sounds like quite an apartment? how much is it costing you? So are we invited to your house party?

Daichi says:
There was a question about making cigarettes illegal? Anyway, I don't think its only about money - I think its more of a laziness issue. Why tinker with it. I mean I'm all for legalizing drugs, I do *believe* it would help take down some of those big crime families but this is the way the world turns. We can't all be smart. A person is smart, but people are just plain stupid. C'mon look who elected president Bush. Just because we're "educated" doesn't make us smarter either - I've had wonderful debates with a certain individual who does not see ANYTHING wrong with the current war on terrorism lead by Bush. I wonder if he realizes the consequences (ie. Israel's present mockery of Bush's war) but the fact is, some people have very different views and I think smoking will never be understood by all.

Its like my circus buddy. At one point, he was number 2 on the uneven bars in Canada, and I think a 4th overall. And now he works a very physically demanding job yet he smokes, and so do most of the other circus folks. Look at the army, jock, buff men... they all smoke! it don't make sense!

working hard and retiring early doesn't happen. Winning the lottery, selling your company will make you rich and retire. But I think our human need, our greed will always make us want more - no matter how "succesfull" we are in our youth. There's always an upper level that we want to reach. I know I lead a pretty extravagant lifestyle, but now I can't imagine being any lower :) Look at Turner, frig, he's got billions to give away YET he still makes money... or remember the conductor Karajan? He used to make 1 million dollars a DAY from royalties. He owned a MOUNTAIN, and drove his Porsche 959 (yup, the one and only very limited super supercar) as fast as he wanted on it - not to mention the many other million dollar cars he owned. anyway I can keep dreaming...

so what is going on with this July vacation? I want a vacation now. Actually I just want kick some ass.

I love it. Nobody is here before 10am too. So I come in early and leave early. AHAHAHA.
Less time to see/deal with stupid people.

For a second I thought you were talking about Hi Fidelity magazine. whoa. That magazine
is hard to read. Anyway, wasn't there a movie based on that hifi book? Innocent book? ZZz.

You know what, Ericsson (YES I'm spelling it out for the world) *is* er... sorry, *WAS* a great
company to work for. And I admit I am very lucky to start here. Its a cushy job, lots of benefits,
and the sheer size of the company kicks ass. But you know what, I can love the product, I can
love the environment, the benefits, the "top 50 companies to work for -lists" BUT if the group I work
with is shit, it AIN'T WORTH it. The people you deal with everyday is what makes your everyday
job. When I first started, I was intimated (partly because it was my first job) BUT the team was great.
The people were really friendly and as much as I'm not too fond of my former boss on a personal level,
on a professional level he was one of the best - and his team was highly regarded was one of the most
effecient. Now, I'm starting to get to know the people around in me but I know they look down on me.
Most people here have at least 5 years + of good coding experience. And they KNOW their 3G stuff
and everything about Protocols. I'm learned more about protocols in the last three months than I ever
did in my life but I'm still an idiot to them. There is more to this but if you want to know I'll talk about
it in person but not on the net

anyway, I'm not sure if you got the jist that I was suggesting to move back here - of course you can tough
it out in cali, but don't suffer in a job thats draining you for no reason. Your family *is* worth some sacrifices.
Since my sister moved out, we've become a lot closer - and I truly understand how they say that you can't
rely on your friends but you can always count on family. My sister has always been there for me. I won't
judge what she does, we'll have our fights but I'll always come back. I can't say the same about some ppl.

ok I really want to go home now...

damn that hammurderer!
Amy, I've already mentioned this to Sue and Andrew and I seriously think you should look into another job.
I ran into a friend of mine from elementary the other day, and I expressed my enthusiasm for my job. But
he went on to tell me that life's too short. He was in the army but quit after getting into an accident while jumping
off a plane (he was a paramedic) - a situation which has disabled him for the rest of his life. Yeah, you might not
be able to relate but here's another story he told me. A friend of his went to work for Enron after being offered to
get full tuition after working for 3 years. During those 3 years, his grandmother and father passed away here, and
then he was one of the first to get cut at Enron. So now, after almost 3 years of devotion to a company, he gets
no tuition benefits, no job, lost the last years of his father's life and is really fcked. Fact is, you shouldn't let your
job rule your life like this. Its just not worth it.
I remember when things were getting out of hand here, and to a certain degree I was taking it, but after two weeks
I realized it just wasn't worth it. I was cranky, bitter and had no time for anything. I still feel like I have no time but
at least I can do what I want. To a certain degree, it is part post-9-11 talking. I often feel bad for my parents sometimes,
cuz I hardly see them - there are so many things I don't know abou them. Why waste your life, your health and everything
that you could possibly hold dear to you just for a paycheck. We are lucky to have families that would take us back or
help us out when things are rough - so don't think you can't go back to save face - this is more than that - save yourself.
You're only young once. And you never know whats around the corner. Life *is* short. Look at the poor dude who got
shot at the gas station - (in montreal, in case you didn't hear, there was another biker related innocent-bystander killed)
What if we look back at your life an see, gee, what did he do with his life: he worked hard. WOOPEEDOO.
Ask yourself, what have you done to make this a better world? I know I've done jack - wooppee, I help make the cellphone
network work slower than ever. Wooohoo. There's no point in going through life without enjoying it.

While I was student I was at my parent's mercy - I didn't get to do what *I* wanted. But now, I *do* have that freedom.
So I might as well make use of it. Having fun, learning different sports, photography etc etc. What kind of life are you
living - waking up, going to work, coming home, cook to eat, then going to sleep. That's not normal. If you have a mental
breakdown, its going to take a lot more than just "time" to get better. People burn out. Watch out. Its not pretty.

Also, if they keep putting these deadlines onto you guys, OBVIOUSLY ppl are going to quit when things get better. Or
some will leave simply out of exhaustion. A good manager, team-leader should see these things and make sure schedules
change. If your manager can't do anything about it, maybe *you* should say something. Ask your co-workers how they feel.
My team-leader was cool, he sometimes said "don't come in this weekend". or whatnot. Its just not worth it. Tell them you're
going to quit the moment you find a better job and if they're not going to respect you, don't expect so much. Management
is obviously under the impression you guys can "handle" it. But you can't. So voice it. They won't know till you do. Or better
yet, just find another job and leave. Or a new career.

the camera site dont work for me now. sniff. nothing worketh for me today. stupid permission on my fake pc card got changed and I don't have root on that machine. I want ROOT! I want ROOT!

Anyhoo, I think I'm missing something in that princess story ; just because the woman stopped weaving she gets punished? hUnH?

I wish I lived in the plateau. You had it good over there. Cool stores, and I'm noticing a lot of the "well-known" pro-imaging services are around there. I just hope that I can find a place that can do all my photograph developping needs. Sigh, I used to think L.Lozeau was good at everything - they make the most beautiful prints, but their b&w sux and do mediocre slide work...

So does anyone want to model for me? b&w... I gotta practice...

yeah I think we'd all snooze during a simpsons... powerpuff is fun but I find that if I watch
more than one, I usually end up falling asleep. sigh, there ain't good stuff on TV no more.

rented "the one"... I didn't think it was as "horrid" as some people said it was - decent action,
cool fx, (albeit not that original). At least there are a couple of movies coming out this weekend.

one flew over the cuckoo's nest - I just love that big Indian dude ripping out the water fountiain..
(or the simpsons version ahahaha) I wouldn't really call the movie charming though... ? I
think it just goes to show how far good writing can take you. If you want another well written
movie, BUT recent, check out "The Spanish Prisoner" directed by David Mamet. (A Canadian,
since you seem so patriotic these days) As for charming "old" movies, I'd check out the
"The Thin Man" series starring Myrna Loy and some dude (ugg, can't remember). Anyway its
a series of movies from the 30's about a retired detective and his very involved wife (Myrna) and
the chemistry between the two is hilarious.
Anyway they're great "old" movies... 'course and I still recommend early Hitchcock...

so I'm guessing only Andrew is up for expos and nobody is up for the circus...

so once again, why are we in this profession? I don't get it.
the co-op that I was working with last summer is currently doing
data-entry as a job. ??? He told me a lot of the jobs that he's
been looking for are expecting 5 years experience. Its really
stupid. The guy is really good, (he just graduated this winter) and
its sad. (Andrew, I think you met him at paintball, Sebastien)
Meanwhile I'm just dying to get out of here today hahahah... weather
sux but I want to take pictures!!!!!!!

Was the first season of Futurama that good? I think I lost interested in that show pretty quickly.
50$US is pretty darn steep. Then again, if there are enough episodes on it... X-files boxes are
pretty pricey too. But for about 24 episodes(?) its a decent deal. The first season of Simpsons had
something like 12 episodes? bleah. It was tiny. Not to mention - who here has actually WATCHED
all those dvd episodes? I've maybe watched one or two, - I find them pretty bad...

Weird, I didn't notice the different Simpsons release dates - I've seen June11, this Jul9 and Jul4. Oddly,
www.snpp.com hasn't updated themselves in a while regarding the release dates.

The rookie eh? I figure I'll see Resident Evil just for Milla... Blade 2 is coming out soon :)
how 'bout a vacation in September?
